Functional Pottery Concentration with Sam Lopez

8-Week Course, Saturdays (9 a.m. - 12 p.m.) Feb. 22-April 5, April 26

Take your ceramics work to the next level!

In this class, students will explore a wide range of functional objects while working on the potters wheel. Each class will have a designated theme/concept that will encourage students to explore new territory within their work with the goal of creating thoughtfully crafted work that reflects the values and interests of each maker. Sam will provide weekly demonstrations, assignments including studio goals and exploration, short readings, and design research that encourages participants to explore as many creative options as possible. Object design and ergonomics will be emphasized and discussed in each class. Students can expect to complete two glaze firings during the 8-week course.

There will be no make-up classes, however lectures will be recorded for participating students to watch.

Also, participants who are not Open Studio Members at OPC will be allowed additional studio access on Thursdays from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
